DCA bot: a buying pace, not a rescue

Dollar-cost averaging here means spending a fixed quote amount on a clock you set. Every interval, the rule would buy about the same quantity of currency, regardless of whether the last candle felt encouraging. The average price that results is bookkeeping. It is not a prediction that the path will reward patience.

The schedule and the extra buy

The plain schedule ignores the chart. An optional second behavior, a larger buy after a decline, is easy to describe and easy to underestimate. It spends faster precisely when the coin is cheaper and the inventory is already uncomfortable. That is still a rule, not a judgment that the decline is ending. If you enable it, the position cap has to be closer, not further away.

Between buys, the unspent quote sits on the exchange. It earns nothing from Captay, because Captay does not hold it and does not pay interest. The exchange may have its own idle-balance terms. Those terms are the exchange's, and this site does not restate them as a feature.

The average is not an exit

People like the average because it falls as they buy dips. The average can keep falling for as long as the market falls, and the account is then full of a cheaper coin that is still down from the first fill. Selling is a separate decision. DCA as designed here does not pick an exit price and does not promise that one exists above the average.

Mark-to-market is the number the daily loss limit would watch. Waiting to sell does not pause the loss. It only postpones the moment it becomes realized. A limit that looked only at closed trades would let a schedule buy through a collapse and call the day flat. That version is rejected.

Where the schedule is cut

  • Capital share stops the rule from treating the whole account as its purse.
  • Position size stops the clock even if the calendar still has ticks left.
  • Drawdown from the slice's high-water mark stops new buys after a deep slide.
  • The daily loss limit stops the session even if the position cap has room.

Fees sit on every fill. A schedule that buys often on a small account can donate a visible fraction of each ticket to the fee schedule. Paper mode, later, is the place to see that drag without sending an order. Paper mode is not available on this website.
